Human Factors Foundation Program Module 2

Our Human Factors Foundation Course provides the essentials on this key topic for doctors and healthcare professionals, presented by Tug Wilson, a former fighter pilot and instructor with over a decade of experience in healthcare human factors training.

Part 2 of the Human Factors Foundation Course looks at the following:

  • Understanding the different types of memory and how they can sometimes fail us

  • Applying memory techniques to aid in the recall of knowledge

  • Understanding the importance of the correct attitude towards checklists

  • Mica Endley's model of Situational Awareness.

This section addresses three more Human Factors subjects that are part of the core of the subject. it will look at how your brain works and how we build a picture in our minds of what is happening in our world. That picture is called Situational Awareness and the three main aspects to that will be explored.

The output of picture building is to help us inform our decision-making, so it is important to make sure we have built the best mental picture that we can. There are several ways that we can make a decision and all of those options are explored here.
