Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is the most common life-threatening genetic disorder among people of African heritage. Each year, over 300,000 children are born with SCD, and many of them do not have access to adequate care to prevent painful crises and prolong their life. Here, we aim to highlight the most effective low cost, preventive interventions in SCD, and help our readers stay up to date on guidance.
