Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) is the most common life-threatening genetic disorder among people of African heritage. Each year, over 300,000 children are born with SCD, and many of them do not have access to adequate care to prevent painful crises and prolong their life. Here, we aim to highlight the most effective low cost, preventive interventions in SCD, and help our readers stay up to date on guidance.
Despite widely available treatment, more than 200,000 new leprosy cases are registered each year globally - highlighting the need to stem transmission. At MedShr we are building a global community of health care professionals with an interest in infectious diseases offering a platform for healthcare professionals to share their experiences of managing patients with leprosy and to learn from each other about how best to deliver care in their region.
