MedShr Teaching Certificate

Learning and Teaching Opportunities

MedShr is a free, online network open to all verified HCPs, with the aim of improving patient care through case discussion and online medical education.

To acknowledge the high quality educational cases that our members post to a global audience of HCPs we have launced the MedShr's Teaching Certificate. Through this HCPs who post 12 high-quality cases over a 4 month period will receive formal recognition and certification for their portfolio, along with 6 CPD points.

Cases or resources do not need to be complex or rare to be part of this project - the intention is to bring those valuable teaching opportunities that occur everyday to a wider audience. With COVID-19, this has never been more important.

What are the benefits of participating in the MedShr Teaching Certificate project?

Benefits for healthcare professionals participating in the teaching certificate include:

  • Gaining formal recognition and certification of teaching for your portfolio without any geographical, time or rota constraints: you can partake in your own time, completely flexibly
  • Demonstrating an interest in the specialty you hope to pursue
  • Helping promote continuing medical education during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond
  • Connecting with colleagues across the globe with similar professional interests and passion for teaching
  • Gaining CPD points from the cases you share

What are the requirements for the programme?

We will award the MedShr Teaching Certificate and standardised letter to all members who complete the programme in recognition of their skills and contribution to medical education. This involves committing to:

  • Sharing
  • Each case must meet MedShr
  • Cases should preferably focus on a particular theme or specialty

Have an idea for your own teaching programme on MedShr?

In addition to this Teaching Certificate, we would like to support anyone who is interested in creating their own educational programme or network. There are opportunities to establish local, regional, national or even international projects, so if you have an idea please let us know by contacting leaders@medshr.net.

Some example may include:

  • A group of haematology registrars in different areas of a country running a 'National Haematology Education Network' for medical students and foundation doctors
  • A surgical trainee, speech & language therapist, and nurse practitioner running a 'Regional ENT Multidisciplinary Group'
